The reason I created this page is because many others like me are FED UP with Yahoo!. Not because of one reason, but because of MANY reasons! And with this page, I hope to provide many links and much information on why you should boycott Yahoo! and the alternatives besides using Yahoo!.
Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see some VERY good links of several people boycotting Yahoo for different reasons. If you, or a friend you know, is using Yahoo services, Let them know about alternative places! I have them listed on the left. I also just put up a new guestbook. Did you have a bad experience with Yahoo? There is a field in the guestbook where you can fill it out. Tell everyone what happened. Did Yahoo! never reply to your problems? Had to suffer getting a Y!ID to associate with your Geocities homepage? Or perhaps you were trying to get your ring to work after the merge but gave up.. Anything will do.
The most recent uproar about Yahoo! is the merging between Yahoo! and the Webrings. Many Ringmasters and Ringmistresses are upset because the new navbar limits creativity and individuality on the rings. Recently, Ringsurf had posted a news update about a tremendous surge in membership. I guess we all know where everyone is going! Furthermore, I would like to slap a ring right here dedicated to being against Yahoo and Webring. I'm sorry Webring, but you really fouled up by merging with Yahoo!.
Also! If you joined rings at Webring.org before Yahoo merged, and you were one of the ones that left, Make sure you REMOVE ALL YOUR SITES FROM RINGS ASSOCIATED WITH YAHOO! Don't just leave them sitting there, Gotta show you mean it!
Everyone remembers when Yahoo! and Geocities merged right? There was a huge outburst about their TOS. Yahoo! had actually forced people to agree to their new TOS in order to access their homepages again. This upsetted many and forced many to move! But that's not all! The TOS had stated that whatever they put on their homepage is property of Yahoo! But thanks to lobbying, Yahoo has changed their TOS.
That page above has explained the infamous "Section 8" clause added with the Yahoo merger. (Keep in mind, This is old, but nevertheless, It's important to know what DID happen!)
Did everyone hear about Yahoo and Egroups are going to be merging? Yup, Not only did Yahoo! cause problems with Geocities and Webring.org, but now, They're gonna cause trouble to Egroups. I'm telling y'all, If you have something at Egroups, Move quickly. And that goes for any who have Yahoo! Clubs. It may just screw up like the others did.
LINKS! www.boycottyahoo.com - This site is boycotting Yahoo! because Yahoo! is offering over 1,000 Nazi objects for sale through their auctions. Say NO to Porn! - Boycott Yahoo! - This site is boycotting Yahoo! Because Yahoo! allows sex clubs and Yahoo has a very poor way of keeping out children from accessing these clubs. Imagine your 8 yr old viewing the albums in those clubs. I guess you're going to have to tell them about horizontal holka polka a lot earlier. Crusade Against Yahoo - This site explains one person's past with Geocities and Webring.org and how they had went through hard times when Yahoo merged with them. Boycott Yahoo - "We are boycotting Yahoo because of their arrogant and impolite handling of new site requests. Here are our demands that all boil down to " treat people the way you would want to be treated ". When these common-sense items have been implemented, we will gladly end the boycott" Julie's "Boycott Yahoo!" page - This site is boycotting Yahoo! for the reason is that they don't accept sites and many webmasters end up lingering for days and weeks and months only to come to the disappointment that Yahoo won't list their site! (Surprisingly, Yahoo ends up listing several sites that begin to boycott Yahoo. I think it's Yahoo's way of trying to "bribe" them into taking down their boycott site.)
